So, this may be the last day you read words from the amazing me.  I am quite excited to go and am looking forward to the new adventure.  I had to say good-bye to so many people, but despite my dad feeling like it was funeral, I will be back in a year and a half.  A year in a half isn't too long.  I will miss seeing everyone grow up, but I am planning on being updated. I will especially miss my family and my big black dog.  I am not sure how I will get on without him, but I guess I will have to try.  Not too much more to say, but as Lafe says it is time to start this new chapter in my life.

6 Days until take-off

Black and White

     I wasn't kidding when I said that I had a lot of black and white clothes.  5 of the 6 skirts that I have are black and white.  Not to worry, the other one I have is all black.  It is true, I tried and tried to get something with color, but it never matched the look I wanted (who knew I had a look).  That is ok though I will be able to match nearly anything.
     So, on from frivolous matters.  I have six days until I leave.  Ya, I am a little nervous, but not as bad as I thought I would be by now.  In fact, that may be what is scaring me the most. I am more nervous  to get through customs, than I am to go on  the actual mission.  I hope that doesn't mean that I will be a bad missionary.  No worries though, I am sure that I will get nervous here soon.
     Prep has been a little scary, pack this, forget that, look for this and that.  I am starting to feel better now though.  The Church has put together a site to help track your progress.  Let's just say I really wanted to see 100% complete for the last little while.  Well I can finally look and see 100% complete. I finally finished my scripture reading (well, I guess not finished-there will be a whole lot more of that soon to come), and now have read through preach my gospel and some of the associated scriptures.  I know that it sounds silly, but being able to look at that monitor and see the words COMPLETE just warms my heart.  So, now I am trying to get in some more Spanish practice, maybe read through the child's version to get the scriptures really down, and get myself on the missionary schedule.  Tomorrow morning, here I come!
   

Starting a blog

Well,
     I have started some other blogs in the past and none of them have ever stuck.  However, hopefully this one will be a super success (considering my mom will be keeping it up).  Anyway, the main reason for me to start this lovely little blog is my mission.  Early in March or maybe February I got my call to the Kentucky Louisville mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  That was not where I expected to go, but I was happy to serve wherever I was needed.  Well, I read a few sentences ( or maybe paragraphs) down and read that I would be reporting to the Mexico City MTC.  A little bit of a shocker?  Um...a little.  Yes.  It is true I would be speaking Spanish in Kentucky.  Now I can see Kentucky and I could see Spanish, but the two together was not at all what I expected.
     So, now I am preparing to go on my mission.  There is a lot of preparation.  However, it can kind of fun.  Since, I am not the biggest fan of shopping, I don't really keep my wardrobe updated, so a whole new wardrobe was in order.  I am talking shoes, skirts, shirts, and a coat.  The Whole Shabang!  That has been pretty fun.  I have to be missionary approved, but that isn't bad at all.  I like the professional, representative of God look.  Believe it or not, my favorite top is a blazer thingy (see not very fashion savvy).  I also learned that I really enjoy black and white. 4 of my 6 skirts are black and white.  Yah, I guess I like that black and white pattern.  I also have really been likely button up shirts.  NOT usually like me, but for some reason it just worked.
     So, to be perfectly clear I will be a non T-shirt, make-up wearing, hair-attempting ( I have been trying that one for a few years) girl for a while.  I guess being presentable is not too bad of a quality to acquire.  Well, this Idaho girl is ready for her new start in the lovely land of Kentucky.
