Surprise!
So this week has been a bit rough
for us. My companion and I have been a little stressed. It has been
a struggle. At times, being a missionary can be tough. Spanish at
times can be a little bit of a struggle, and then there is that feeling of
knowing that you really can't do it by yourself. It has been a little rough.
We have been growing a lot,
though. We recently have been working a lot on Christ like attributes - one
every week. Well, the one for 2 weeks ago was hope. That quickly turned into patience. And
now, this week has been all about patience again. It is funny. Just when I think I have nailed the idea of
patience, I get a smack in the face that makes it all just that much
deeper. I had no idea how impatient I really am. I want things to
go down in my time, not faster or slower. However, that is not the case. I have to let it happen in the Lord's time, whether
that means I have to pick it up and move a little quicker, or brace myself for
the slower. So, this week I have learned both. I have learned the
slower patience - that people change at different times in their
life. They do not always change as quickly as you would
like. Sometimes, you have to work with people and listen to the
spirit and eventually things will start to change. This is
applied to working with other people and with yourself. Sometimes you
expect others to just figure everything out, and then there are the
times when you have to step back and realize that you have to change
little by little, too. Your weaknesses, no matter how quickly you want to
rid yourself of them, won’t go away all at once.
Patience. On the other hand, God sometimes moves more
rapidly than you anticipated. That was something new this week,
too. We have been talking with a person for a while now, and he loves
what we have to share. Before we knew it, he was ready for
baptism. He was baptized! We are so happy for him. And it is a pretty good feeling to see
someone align their will with God's. There aren't really feelings to
express how amazing it is to see change for the better. We are so
happy for him.
It is amazing and reminds me of
something that my companion always says- If it's not eternal, it's not
important. That is so true. The baptismal program certainly wasn't
flawless, and his teachers certainly had their faults (teachers meaning me), but the baptism was an ordinance of God, and
nothing could be more important than that.
So, from this week. I have learned
patience and faith – to have faith in God, trust in him, and know that this is
his work and not ours. And also patience is not a matter of waiting or
rushing, but a matter of accepting God's timing. It has all been
good.
OK.
In other news, Hermana Magalei is from Laie, Hawaii. She is a
dancer at the PCC there. She is amazing.
I had one person tell me that I spoke perfect Spanish. That made me happy. I know that I don't, but, hey, at least people can understand me.
Entonces, Yo se espanol de Mexico,
Honduras, Guatemala, y Cuba. Entonces, mi espanol no es
"perfecto". Me encanta mi mision. Estoy aprendieno
Me
Disculpeme si useted no puedo
entenderme. Todovia yo no peudo escribir(spell) muy bien. Es la
misma en ingles. Pero aqui es algo en espanol. Nos vemos!
Adios,
Hermana Gamett
Love you so so much
