Week 76 - December 14, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Dear Friends and Family,

This week has been a great week!  There have been a lot of amazing things that have happened this week, and many lessons learned. 

Life has been good to me.  As I came into this area, there were a few thoughts that entered my head.  One of which was what God wanted me to do in that area. What did God want me to do here?  What did He expect of me here? I had been in other areas where I had specific jobs.  I knew that the Lord had specific plans for me here, also.  As I sought that out, some specific thoughts came to me.  One of which came before I hit the area - work with members ( a little rough when you speak Spanish in an English ward), and I sent you here to baptize.  That is your calling right now!  I found that so interesting, and I was excited!  It is interesting.  Our purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, Repentance, Baptism, Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the end.  I had had that opportunity to help in many of those areas in others' lives, and baptism was supposed to be the main focus here.  So we worked and worked, and as companions came and went, more things would happen.  The ward started to like us more.  We started to build relationships with them.  I found myself caring more and more about them, and wanting to help them out!  I love this ward!  Then, as we kept going, the idea of a branch become our missionary goal.  We were all on board.  Then our ward mission leader said that that was not the goal.  It was integration.  Well, we went to work.  If we were going to integrate, we were going to do it right!  So, we really got going on better English Classes.  We invited, and got as many people as possible there.  We worked and worked on different things.  Pretty soon, an amazing Spanish couple moved in.  The wife was from Idaho, so of course they were great!  He was called to be the Spanish Liaison.  As that went through, we started with a few meetings.  We were both new to it all, but started as best as we could.  It was so great!  The ward started to get excited too.  We put together some Spanish things and ideas.  Before we knew it, our Christmas party was Spanish style.  They put a Spanish twist to it all.  It was so amazing! And it brought in the Spanish members, and people! 

Things continued to progress, and this Sunday was one of the best days of my life.  As you all know, on November 8th Carmelo and Carlos got baptized.  A miracle all in itself!  Brother Rupert helped so much, and kept them busy every week with FHE on Monday, and Home teaching on Tuesday!  They are amazing members, and they have such an amazing light that is just growing!  Their mother became interested, and many more miracles happened.  Anyway, yesterday was the Christmas program!  And it was incredible.  We watched as the nativity (program helped to be made by yours truly) was read in English, and then wait for it...in Spanish by a member that has started to come back-Jose.  It was incredible, and I realized how special each child of God was, and how each was special-no matter the language! 

Right after the program, I talked to sister Solorio and just sat and enjoyed this time!

Right after, we were able to accompany Carmelo and Carlos to the Bishop's office so that they could receive the priesthood.  That afternoon, Carmelo baptized his mother.

This was an incredible thing!  To see so much happen here. I feel so privileged to be able to see the Lord work through these people, for the people that I love so so so much! 

I know that the Lord has a Plan for each of His children.  He really loves them, and wants them to have so many blessings!  He has a perfect plan for each of us, if we only choose to come unto Him.  We have the way to get to Him!  He loves us, and will help us with everything!  He will care for us, and if we dispel all fear, if we choose to let Him change us, we can become what He wants, and we can have the Joy that He wants us to have!  I have only felt a little of the love that He is capable of giving them, but that is the thing that is amazing! The small part that I feel, is more than I can handle.

I love my mission, I love these people.  I love the Gospel, and I love God's plan and the knowledge that we have of the Savior.

Week 74 - November 30, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Hello hello,

This week was a great week!  We had some miracles! And we have had some interesting times!  So I am aware that my letters are all study,

but I think that it is safe to say that email times are the best time to recap, and the best studies! 

Anyway, this past week has been a little rough.  We got news this week that we were going to have to move back a baptismal date.  That is not

news that we wanted to get, and of course, I let it get to me. All the negative things just hit me, and I was super sad about it all. Anyway, we set up the lesson later, and found out that she had been living the commandment for at least a month.  It was such a faith builder.  She is so prepared for the gospel, and she is willing to do anything that

she needs to.  I just love her, and am so happy for her!

We had Thanksgiving this week! It was good.  I tried to take a nap, but failed!  We went and ate with a family, and then went to the recent converts.  Then we had coordination.  Yah!  The ward mission leader doesn't rest!  He is amazing! Hermana Larson got sick, and has been pretty sick since.  So we did a Skype lesson, and did what we call phone tracking.  We worked when she could, but then we realized that she needed to stop and get better, so slow and steady.

Week 73 - November 23, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Dear Family,

I hope that all has been going well for you this week!  I have learned so many amazing things this week.  Magi accepted a baptismal date, as well as Maria.  We are so excited, and so excited for everything to happen.  Things are amazing, and we are seeing so many miracles!

----------------------------Pride--------------------------

So this week was full of fun adventures.  Many miracles, lessons, and busy times.  This week was also exchanges!  I got to go to Jasper with Sister Patterson.  We started our missions together in the same district so that was fun to be with her!  We were driving somewhere and we started talking about the things that we have learned on our missions. One thing interesting that she said was pride, and its many forms.  I thought a lot about that, and it just rang so true to me.  That has been the bane of my existence!  The source of all of my problems.  The charity and humility killer, The Father of failure, and the Shamer of success. Basically, my biggest enemy!

     So, what is pride?  Naturally, I have to turn to my good old "Beware of Pride" talk (which I have had for years, and it seems to have a ton of depth- the most simple are the most complex).

"The central feature of pride is enmity—enmity toward God and enmity toward our fellowmen."  

So what does that mean?  Pride is exactly what I was striving to fight against from the beginning.  I have wanted to face God, and do His will.  Who knew that I was being a pride killer!? :) Anyway, the struggle to do that is hard.  It is not something that is easy.  That also means that we must give up our ability to appease man, and those around us, and strive to please God!

"Our will, in competition to God’s will, allows desires, appetites, and passions to go unbridled."-What are our motives?

"Our enmity toward God takes on many labels"-what are we labeled?  Do we care?  Does it actually matter?

C. S. Lewis: “Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man. … It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition has gone, pride has gone.”

"Fear of men’s judgment manifests itself in competition for men’s approval."- Facing God?

"There is, however, a far more common ailment among us—and that is pride from the bottom looking up. It is manifest in so many ways, such as fault finding, gossiping, backbiting, murmuring, living beyond our means, envying, coveting, withholding gratitude and praise that might lift another, and being unforgiving and jealous."

There are so many different and amazing things learned here.  Actually, a lot of  this is coming from what I am learning right now, so personal study # 2. So, who are we?  Are we pitting ourselves against man, and are we in a constant power struggle?  Do we strive to stay away from competition of others, or do we strive to refrain from judging other people?  Judging is also a large form of pride, and a killer of Charity.  I think that is when we have to ask ourselves the real question.  Are we becoming like Christ, or are we becoming a person that wants to be perceived like Christ?  That was the desire which got Satan thrown out of Heaven.  Who are we?  What are our motives? 

I have been contemplating these things, as of right now, with a start this week.  I have been struggling with many things, many of which are frustrating me to death!  I do not like it, but I have to deal with it, and honestly I should be thankful for it!  Anyway, I have had this constant battle.  Although it is not generally me pitting myself against others, there are times that I find that I pit myself against myself.  Who I was, who I think that I should be, or maybe who I think that others expect me to be.  That is not the plan of God.  Pitting myself for who I was, is denying repentance, and pitting myself against who I will be, is fear of the future.  I cannot be in fear.  I cannot be full of pride.  As Sister Patterson said,  "Pride manifests itself in many different ways!"  Once you kill one piece of it, God lets you start to see other ways that it affects you. And every aspect that you start to kill allows your vision to match just a little closer with the vision and sight of God!

As the weeks have past, I have been striving to really change to really repent - to make a real change, a real change of heart!  To become- not only to do, but really become.  I guess that means to wipe pride away.  Maybe the definition of perfection is the elimination of pride, which allows for complete humility, and perfect submissiveness to the Father.  That is the goal!

So, searching for those weaknesses is a big thing that we have to learn how to overcome.  I have discovered some of my biggest weaknesses these last few months and I guess you could say my character flaws. Yep!  And to destroy them is difficult!  That is what we must do, though - be submissive enough to allow God to come in and make us strong.  We have to be submissive enough to allow God to keep our strengths, and not let them become subject to our pride and therefore become our weakness. (Ether 12:27)  We have to eliminate pride.  That is our quest!  That is our dream and desire!  Everything that we do should be to please the Father, and to eliminate pride! 

So, part of allowing yourself to submit to God, is to allow yourself to do what the spirit says to do, no matter what!  Story time!!!  This week we had a lesson with Magi!  She is one of my favorite people ever, and I just love her so much.  So we stopped at the apartment complex to see another family, and decided that we were going to bring "The Family a Proclamation to the World" with us.  They were unable to meet so we headed over to Magi.  We went in and  for some reason none of us could start the lesson.  Later, we heard everybody else's conflicting thoughts, but we just could not do it.  We listened to her talk for a while.  She is an angel and the most mature 14 year old that I know, but just kept talking.  Quite a few times I saw the fasting pamphlet in my bag and then I saw the family proclamation.  I thought FAMILIES, but then I remembered that we had set up a lesson in a members home to talk about that.  So, I just kept refraining.  Stupid, I know!  Anyway, finally it just came out "Magi, what are your goals?"  A question that I had asked before.  We talked, and I realized that I needed to add the word spiritual in there.  We talked about it, and she talked about the importance of family to her.  Hermana Bown happened to drop her family proclamation pamphlet on the ground, and, in her words, was just too lazy to pick it up! After a few interruptions, Magi saw it, and grabbed it.  We read it a little, and she said, "So that means that in your church you don't have the words 'till death do we part'".  No, Magi, we do not.  Life can go forever WITH our family!  She said a lot of really cool things, and has noticed the families in the church, and wants to raise a family in the church!  She also said that she wants to know more and go to church every week.  If she is committed, she wants to be committed.  We talked about the temple, and that was that.  Magi has had some amazing lessons in the past, and is so incredible.  She has some amazing people in her life, and has a super bright future.  On Sunday night, she came to us, and said that she had for sure decided to get baptized!  She is amazing! I can't even explain how much I love that chica!

Week 72 - November 16, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

This week has been a great week!  We are learning a lot, and I can just say that God has an amazing and interesting plan for each and every one of us.  Transfer calls were Saturday, and we both felt that something was going to change, but we were not sure what.  Throughout the day, we waited, but then we gave up, and just kept going.  At 9:15 we got a phone call informing us that we were going to have a 3rd companion!  And she is great!  She started her mission here, and then I served really closely with her in Hikes!  We have a blast!  It has been quite the adventure getting her a bed, and fitting our lifestyles all together!  She has lots of chocolate so... it works out well!  It is just the change that we needed, and it is great!

My whole mission I have been learning about charity.  I have been learning about love and caring about all of these amazing people.  I came out on my mission to be able to share what I have received with God's children, and I had no idea how much it would really impact me.  I had no idea how much love I would develop for those here!

Of course, it all started in Owensboro, and I had the opportunity to see some of those people this week!  Incredibly, they remembered me.  I was only there for 3 months, but they changed my life!  I think about all the people that still mean so much to me there, and how much I care about them!  I then think about all of the people there that I loved so much.  How many times my heart was broken.  How many tears I shed for those amazing people.  How many connections that I have tried so hard to keep.  I love them so much!

I am catching a new aspect of Charity here.  As usual, I am trying to pray for charity!  I am starting to see how much people mean to God.  I read a quote that said something along the lines of "Through the Holy Ghost you can see others as God does".  I am starting to learn all of that!  Everyone has potential.  Everyone desires to be loved.  Everyone has different talents and abilities, and who are we to say that they are not good enough.  I have had so many missionaries, companions, investigators, and members who have had rough pasts, hard trials, or things that they are struggling with, too.  Why should I make any judgement unless it is in a way that I can help them?  Why should I ever say or do anything that would not lift them up?  That is seeing others through God's eyes;  Seeing their potential and helping them reach it!  I love these people so much!  That has been one of the greatest lessons that I have ever learned!

So, the past two weeks, church has been on not judging.

We had an interesting lady try to read our palms-shut that one down fast!

We had an incredible lesson with Esteban and Maggy!  We had the confirmation of Carmelo and Carlos, and their Mom wants to be taught and get baptized.  This area is seeing miracles!

Week 71 - November 9, 2014 - Evansville, Indiana

Dear Everyone,

I hope that you have all had a wonderful week!  I hope that you were able to see lots of miracles!  This week was crazy.  We had so much going on this fabulous week.  It was an amazing week!

One of the most amazing things this week was an exchange with Hermana Magalei.  I have missed her so much, and have just needed to talk to her.  We got together, and reminisced in the old times.  It felt so good to be around her.  She builds people up so much, and she is so honest with me.  We nicely enjoyed lessons, and companion study, and spiritual conversation.  We also enjoyed eating chocolate molten cake just like back in the day!  I have missed her so much, so naturally we just talked forever.  It was amazing!  It helped remind me of who I am and my purpose and made me think of the things that I must strive to do better.  It was great!

So, off of that, we had an amazing zone conference the next Friday!  I had so many questions answered and I realized a lot!

So, the great things all lead up to an amazing day on Sunday.  On Sunday, we headed to church.  There were so many people there!  We counted at least 24 people who were Hispanic or in Hispanic families.  We saw a ton of amazing people!  We ran out of headphones!  The amazing thing is that they all came for a baptism that night.  The word got out, and everyone from everywhere came.  That is what I love so much about the people that I serve with.  They do amazing things!  They are amazing support.  So, we had a Spanish Baptism.  We, basically, had to invent some of it, seeing as how it would be in Spanish, but the ward speaks English, the investigator's mom speaks Spanish, and many people there would be speaking Spanish.  So, basically, there were some interesting things going on.  Spanglished the baptism!  The ordinance happened, and they felt good so it all went well.  We had tres leches and tortas there.  It was great!  All went well.

I wish that I had more time to write everything this week, but I don't.  Oh!  And other news, we waited all day Saturday to see what was going to happen to our area.  Something needed to change and I wasn't sure what was going to happen.  We waited all day. I was stressed out.  I found out that I will be staying here, but at 9:20 we got a call informing us that we will be in a trio.  We are excited for that!  It is something new, but I get to stay in an area that I love so much!  I am super excited!

Anyway, that was my amazing week in a nutshell.  Thank you so much for the great packages.  We loved them and still used them to celebrate Halloween late!   I love you all a ton!

Week 70 - November 2, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Dear family, 

I love you all a ton, and I hope that you have had a great week.  This week has been a great week!  We were pretty busy.  Not as busy as the week before, but still busy.  The fall is here, and I brought out my coat!  I sure do love it!   We were able to do a lot this week.  We were able to get a lot done.

A few amazing things that I learned this week, or was reminded of:

1.  My mission president is inspired!  Sometimes things happen that we don't understand or we don't like, but ultimately, if we allow God to do His will and we submit to it, He will direct us for good.  A great example of that was my 2 amazing transfers with Hermana Magalei.  She is incredible, but in the beginning nobody thought that it would work.  Now we are closer than ever, and she has done more for me than I can possible express.  She takes care of me!

2.  You have to be yourself.  Every situation that you are put in is a test of character.  It is a test, or rather an opportunity, to understand yourself better; get just one step closer to that person that you want to be.  You have to decide, but you can know by how you feel.  I am learning every day with every companion that it is the best thing to be yourself.  You should never change for the worse or for them, only for God.  That is the beauty of the gospel.  There are so many different people, so many different circumstances, but in the end the whole purpose is to reach that divine potential.  There is so much beauty in that!  I get to see that in people here, companions, and myself.  This gospel is meant to build us up, and help us get closer to God.  We have the steps.  We only have to act.  

3.  Members are amazing!  They do so much good.  Everyone is always willing to help and share their talents.  And there are many!  There have been so many members that have taught me so much on my mission and showed me a new perspective.  The Salorios and another amazing member have done so much this week, and I will always be so grateful for them!  I look to all the families here, and what they do.  Although they have no idea the impact that they have on us, their example is huge, and many of them have helped shape my decisions, and thus the rest of my life!

4.  For some reason, the Lord has kept leading me to study charity, and the Holy Ghost.  I am only now starting to really understand this.  It is incredible to see the different ways that it is playing into my mission.  I am learning a ton, and am starting to see the basic principles at a new level.  I don't have time to explain, but let's just say that the Spirit is key to so much, and that by having the spirit, we can see others how God does, and then we can love them more like He does.  Then the spirit can help us guide them to Christ and use His Atonement to fulfill the plan that God has for them.  He really does have an amazing plan for all of His children!

Anyway, there is some randomly written stuff!

Also, this week we were able to help at the soup kitchen, paint a bathroom really, really lime green, teach English Class, and go to Washington.  We left a note on the giant orange leaves here.  We also had a study blitz.  I love my mission so much, and can't wait to see what this week brings!

Week 69 - October 26, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Don't judge me in the zoo pictures!  I had a migraine that morning, and couldn't see to do my makeup.

Dear family,

This week was a great week.  The leaves are changing, and everything is going well.  Our schedule has been amazing!  We are so busy.  We are constantly going, and things are constantly happening.  There are so many amazing people here that change my life.

This week we got to be with 7 different families, and I have learned from every one of their examples.  We were literally going from lesson to lesson, with not much time in between.  It has been amazing to feel that productive.  It has been what I love in missionary work!  We had English class this week, too, and so many people came.  Sister Salorio, an amazing member in the ward, came, too.  She really knows what she is doing.  7 people came to English class.  Things are looking up.

Maggie came to church, too.  It was incredible.  The few young women that we had just swarmed her, and took her in.  I felt like a proud parent!  They just took care of her.  They just welcome so many people.  I really love this ward.  I am so blessed to serve around them.  

This week we all dressed in pink for district meeting.  It is the most girly that I have felt in a really long time! 

So, Great studies!  Great people!  Super amazing day at church!  Amazing week!

Week 68 - October 19, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Hey family!

This week was amazing.  We saw so many miracles.  I also had my last zone conference.  

So, first off, Monday was fine.  We had a lovely day.  Then, Tuesday, we arose and shone early so that we would be able to get to New Albany by 9:30 their time  - 8:30 ours.  So, off we went.  Drove.  The GPS took us an odd way in the beginning.  Hermana Bown had to remind me not to yell at it in Spanish because it wasn't mine!  

Anyway, we got there and they installed Tiwi.  You can google it.  Fun times!  Basically, all that it does is track us and it informs me when I speed.  Yay!

At zone conference, we learned about that, and had some other trainings.  Then, those who would go home in the next two transfers, bore their testimonies.  Well, yep....that was me.  They made me go last.  That was a really hard thing to do.  I go home with some pretty amazing missionaries, I must say!  I am honored to serve with them.  

Further into the week, we were just going, going, going.  Lesson, drive, lesson, drive!  Maybe eat, usually somewhere we went, fed us.  It was amazing.  On Friday night, we had English class.  Fun times!  We had 6 people there, which was great!  Afterwards, we watched, "Because He Loves", and the room just filled with the spirit!  It was amazing!  A member suggested a church tour, and that was an answer to so many prayers.  We had been searching for a way to help one person, in particular, feel the spirit, and could not figure it out.  Good thing God is smarter than we are because He made it work!  They came back on Sunday for the Charla (fireside).  Many miracles!

Saturday, we helped the ward out at the zoo.  We planted bulbs for the spring.  That was so great!  Maggie came and helped, too.  It was so much fun.  We absolutely love it!  She is amazing!!!  Sunday, we enjoyed church, and the Charla.  I got to see Hermana Magalei, and she has no idea how much that meant to me or how much she has changed my life.

Basically, that is my life.  That is how it all happened this week.  I am out of time, but I love you all!

Week 67 - October 12, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Hello Hello!

First off, I would like to apologize for the sad emails, and the lack of one.  I couldn't find my letter to send it.  So, we will see what I can do to make up for it. 

This week was crazy; the good kind of crazy!  We had so much going on and so many miracles!

I honestly have so much to say, and it seems to be a constant battle of  -Do I share stories in detail? - or -Do I give you the amount of stories?  It's a constant battle of quality versus quantity.  So I will try to give enough details to you.  

So this week started out all right.  We taught a 7th day Adventist preacher.  That was fun.  This was the second lesson, and the second time that we have had to be pretty bold.  They are definitely rough lessons, but very interesting.  So, there is that.  The thing that was incredible was that we were not willing to Bible bash, and we just testified, and the spirit testified.  That was a struggle, but life ended up being good.

This week we also had a women's conference for all the sister missionaries in Louisville., It was so much fun.  We got up early and headed over there.  A whole fun filled day.  Let's just say it was totally a room full of girls.  I think the APs were a little more nervous for this training than for some of the others that they had given.  They did a great job, though.  Everything was super fun.  Hermana Bown and I were in the fashion show of do's and don'ts.  I was a do!  Anyway, that was a super fun-filled day followed by pizza at the famous, Sister Andrades.

The next day we helped Sister Coomes clear out her garden.  I can't tell you how great it was to be out with a shovel working in the sun.  For some reason, people don't think that you can do anything in a skirt.  Anyway, that was wonderful.

Lessons canceled-planning-driving-dr. appointments-coordination.  More fun!  Evansville has a huge festival called Fall Festival.  The ward/stake has a booth there to raise money for events so they asked us to help out for a little while.  We walked through that carnival festival thing in our skirts, and super out of place.  I couldn't help but smile so big as we Oh-So-Lovely walked there.  Confidence!  Let's just say after working and eating something, we were out of there as fast as we could.  Esteban nicely walked us missionary girls covered in flour to our car.

More adventures the rest of the week:  We had English class on Friday, and taught about families.  Party!  So, since we speak the lovely language of Spanglish, nobody understands us.  So we were walking up the stairs and my companion and I were speaking in Spanish.  Pretty soon we heard an, "Excuse me" from upstairs.  A girl walked down the stairs and said, in Spanish, "Are you from Chile?"  Yes.  Sure thing!  Anyway, she was from Columbia and heard our Spanish.  Apparently, my accent was good enough to qualify as native.  YES!  She was great!  So lesson learned. People are always listening, so always say nice things (we were talking about corn.)  

We were able to go to Louisville this week with Maggy.  She is the best.  She is one of Esteban's friends.  She is amazing, and one of my best friends here!  We had such a fun time.  We watched the Joseph Smith video and Esteban testified.  It really touched her!  I love these people!

Hopefully, more later.  Amazing lessons this week, great studies, and lots of things going on.

Week 66 - October 5, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Dear Family,

This week was a fabulous week.  We learned a lot and had a great week.  Monday was a normal P-day.  Tuesday we got up at 5:30am and headed out the door.  We went to load Grandma's van for transfers.  We were going to pick up a sister and take her with us for the day.  Go Spanish!  She was with us for the day.  We worked the rest of the week, and had an amazing conference experience.

We also met Maggy.  She is amazing!  She came to English class and helped us teach it, too.  We watched nearly all of conference in Spanish.  Someone was there for nearly all of the sessions, but one, and we were super happy.  However, our brains were fried.  It all went well, but there are some talks I will need to review.  I had so many questions that were answered, and so many things solved.  There was so much that we learned!

 This week, I have really been trying to focus on my mission; really trying to recognize and apply the things that I have learned.  It was incredible to see all the topics that they covered.  They really hit some of the amazing points that I needed to hear.

One topic, in particular, that really stood out to me was charity and love.  Another is doing the will of the Lord.  There is so much that I have learned, and so much that I had no idea that I had learned.  I love my mission so much.  I never want to leave it.  I have learned how to love people, how to trust the Lord, and how to be happy.  I have truly learned how to be happy.  Slowly, the Lord is putting back in my path trials and things that are testing my ability to continue on my own down that road.  He is allowing me to literally choose what choices I will make.  There are constant temptations to go back to the way that I thought before.  There are constant things tempting me to regress, but that is not the point nor the plan.  It has been interesting.  Anyway, conference reminded me that we must continue forward, and work hard to choose what we can become.

Week 65 - September 28, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Dear Family,

I love ya all a ton.  So, today marks the first day of a new transfer.  Hermana Bown and I are staying together, and I am ready for this exciting transfer!  As for the last transfer, we have seen so many miracles.  This past week, we had a church tour where the spirit just radiated the entire time.  I have never (that I can remember) had a lesson where the spirit literally stayed there for so long.  It was an amazing experience.  So much is happening.  We have English class, and lessons, and amazing experiences.  We also watched the women's conference this week, which was amazing.  

This week we have had some fun experiences. We went to Sebree, the miracle land.  We stopped and knocked on a door, and immediately they let us in.  We had an incredible lesson one.  The guy was so so interested, and said that he had been looking for a church.  He was amazing.  He said that he would read it, and check it out.  Sadly, he lives in Louisiana.  Good thing this is a world wide church.  That is just a few of our miracles.  The members are really starting to get used to us, and they are amazing!  I love my mission, and it has

changed me.

Week 63 - September 14, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

I hope that everything is going well for you all.  This week has been full of good and bad, and as usual, I can't remember what happened this week versus last week.  However, I do know that I have changed a lot since the beginning of my mission.  That is certainly something that has been made evident this past week.

Hermana Bown and I are doing so many different things in this area.  We are trying new things and seeing success.  It has been so much fun.  We have cried both tears of joy and tears of sorrow this week, but we truly do love being missionaries.  There are so many amazing things that we get to experience.  I am so very thankful for those things - for every opportunity I have had on my mission.  Each one has helped me grow. Each one has changed my life. This week I got a taste of that.  A better understanding of the "whys".   And a better understanding of the reasons why everything happens.  It was really amazing.

This week we has an amazing district meeting on prayer, and bearing testimony( which I don't do very well in English).  It was so good and the perfect addition to the district meeting that we had before, and the training that we had on teaching doctrine ( dad, you would have loved that one). I have really tried to apply it, and have seen a huge

difference. 

So, as far as the lovely week went, we have done a lot. We have been down in Sebree, Kentucky and Henderson.  We drove the lovely roads of Newburgh, which I haven't done in a while.  We knocked, and taught, and saw miracles.  We went to 2 sacrament meetings, and had a lesson and studies at the church.  Ward breakfast.  Early mornings.  Studies at the library.  Old fashioned Dairy Queen.  Coordination. Shirley the cat.  More lessons.  Meet new people.  More knocking.  Studies.  No time to write everything.  Early morning work outs to Mormon messages. Piano.  Life.  More visits.  Long week short, it was a long week.  It was great, though.  I am so grateful for this opportunity, and I hope I

can use it to the best of my ability.

Week 62 - September 7, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Everything is going well here.  We are learning a lot and doing a lot.  We had exchanges this week, which were super fun.  We enjoyed it all!  

We had a lot of meetings this week, and such interesting adventures.  We had sad and good moments. We got to do a lot this week.  

Some of the pictures that I sent include the helmet that my companion needed.  She didn't have her helmet, and the Zone leaders went to Louisville and brought her back that beauty. We enjoyed that a lot!  We were able to test that out!

 Then we were able to so nicely find this cat. She absolutely loves us.  We named her Shirly and she comes running whenever we go over there.  It was super fun, and we enjoy being in her company.  Anyway, sorry for the horrible email.  I love you a ton!

Week 60 - August 24, 2015 - Evansville, Indiana

Never in your life will you have the same experiences that you will as a missionary.  Never in your life will you be so excited to head to the sketchy part of town, and chase down people.  Never in your life will you have the authority to talk to anybody, in any situation, about the gospel.  Never in your life will you have the total confidence that you can talk about Jesus with some people in Wal-mart, or some drug dealer on the street.  Never do you get to be totally awkward and not care one bit what anybody says about you.  Never in your life do you get to be friends with people from all walks of life, all different people, and come to love them so so much, other than on a mission.  Never will you get to grow like you do on your mission. 

I really love my mission.  I have learned so very much.  There is so much that I cannot explain, and what I can explain would take up way too much room.  My mission has changed me, and I pray that I will never change back.

As I have served a mission, I have learned some really important lessons, some of which include giving up your will to God.  Whatever you think you were supposed to do, may be something other than what the Lord has in store for you.  You have to trust his judgment.  I can't say how many companions I have judged before they came to me, but have become my very best friends ever.  I have friends here from all over.  I love being around them.  I love learning from them.  I love seeing them do amazing things.  How much better does it get?!  They have helped me find myself, too.

I have learned that when you give yourself to the Lord, he has the ability to bless you.  But you have to give it all.  Give everything up.  You have to understand that awkward, really is the new missionary cool.  You have to accept that you will be knocked down, built up, yelled at, loved, heartbroken, and driven nearly insane.  You have to learn that 6:30am is the best time of the day, and bed time at 10:30pm is the best thing of your life.  You have to learn that charades is the new Spanish, and it is possible to teach the gospel with it.  You have to learn that people are your best examples, and that a member's home really is the most spiritual place you will be in!  You have to learn that the Sacrament not only covers all the times you messed up that week, but it gives you the strength to move forward, to be strong, and to make the necessary changes in your life.  You learn that the new complex is really the simplicity.  You learn that cars are a privilege, but the Lord makes it work. You quickly learn that trying to impress anybody other than God, is the fastest way to failure.  You learn that motives behind any action are totally void and pointless unless they are based on charity and love.  You learn that fear is ridiculous, and a common theme for me.  You learn that agency is the ability to choose what you want.  It is not the ability to choose for others. You learn that some of the most faithful are found around you.  You quickly learn that other missionaries are usually the strengths that you pray for, and that is all sprinkled with humility on top!  You quickly learn that being perfect is not possible without the Savior.  You learn that you really don't have control over every situation, so deal with it!  You learn that obedience based on obligation isn't nearly as fun as obedience based on charity.  You learn that boldness is the best way to avoid wasting time over beating around the bush.  It also brings the spirit the fastest. The Lord calls you where He wants you to do things that are the best for you.  You can't forget that and you have to remember that it is in those times you learn the most. Lots and lots of things that I have learned!  These are just a few and I didn't even include the stories.  But I have learned a lot, and want to keep learning these amazing things.  I am so thankful for all of these opportunities.

I have also learned that people can like you and even remember you.  I also learned that I scare people.  I look angry when I am thinking, and my companions have all been afraid of me when they heard that they were going to be with me because of my obedience- Don't worry.  It all changed when they met me (not the obedience).  I think they like me now!

Anyway, I have learned a lot.  I have learned more things in the last week than I could even write, but one thing that has been a common theme the last little while is our Divine Nature.  So often, we are afraid of the person that is inside of us.  So often, we are in fear that the person inside will not be liked or she will be odd, but in reality that is just who God intended us to be.   It is that person we strive our whole lives to let out.  And, in reality, it is so simple.  Just be you.  Follow those feelings of right and wrong.  Don't be afraid of the girl on the inside.  She is who you are.  I have been so scared of her forever, but there is no need to be afraid.  It is who I am, and I am happy to be her.  Anyway, long, long email, but so much learned!

I am with Hermana Bown, and it is so much fun!  We have had some of the same companions, and now are finally together.  We have been out for about the same amount of time and have the same purpose.  We get along great, and I just love working with her.  Her Spanish is great so we are equal teachers ( hopefully it is not too bad on my part).  We have had such a great time so far.  We are both willing to work so hard, and are totally focused on the work.  I am soooo happy to be here, and I don't want to ever stop being a missionary!  I have literally seen miracles. I have also been reminded of who I was, and how far I have come.  I think that the missionaries that change on their missions are the real miracles.  I have seen so many people who have really changed, and I am one of them!  Anyway, I will quite typing now.  It really doesn't all make since, but here ya go!

  Also, I didn't play the piano too much in my last area.  I didn't feel like it had much to do with my purpose.  Here, I feel like it might be better, and the other day we stayed at the church for lunch and I tocared (played) the piano.  It felt really good.  I will send you all the video.  I love you all a ton, and I hope that you have a great day!
